Darius Songaila

Darius Songaila ( born February 14, 1978 in Marijampolė ) is a Lithuanian professional basketball player. the 2.06 m wide power forward from 2003 to 2011 in the NBA active. Since 2012 he is at BK Donetsk under contract.

Career

Association

From 1998 to 2002 Songaila played for the team from Wake Forest University in the NCAA. He was selected in the second round of the 2002 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics, but the following season completed at CSKA Moscow. In the NBA, he played two years for the Sacramento Kings, with whom he twice reached the play-offs of the NBA, and then a year for the Chicago Bulls. In 2006, Songaila to the Washington Wizards, but for which he could accrue only from the middle of the season due to a back surgery. Nevertheless, he achieved that season with the Wizards the play-offs.

Lithuanian national basketball team

Songaila is active for the national team of Lithuania since 1998 and won her bronze medal at the Summer Olympics in 2000, gold at the European Championships in 2003 and bronze at the European Championships in 2007. Besides these tournaments he took part in the Summer Olympic Games in 2004 and 2012, at the basketball 2006 World Cup and the European Championships in 2001 and 2011.
