Dariusz Wdowczyk

Dariusz Wdowczyk ( born September 25, 1962 in Warsaw, Poland ) is a former Polish footballer and current football coach.

Club career

His debut in the Polish Ekstraklasa was Wdowczyk in 1981 at his hometown club Gwardia Warszawa. In Gwardia he played two years in the top Polish league, before moving to local rivals Legia Warsaw in 1983. In Legia he became the absolute top performers and top players. After seven successful seasons at Legia Dariusz Wdowczyk 1990 moved to Scotland to Glasgow Celtic. Also at Celtic Wdowczyk quickly became a regular player and spent five seasons with the Scots. In 1994 he moved to Reading FC in the second English league. At Reading, he went to 82 league games in four seasons. In 1998 he returned to Poland and played the first round in 1998/99 for Polonia Warsaw, before he ended his professional career in the same year.

National

For the Polish national football team, he completed 53 games and made his debut on September 12, 1984 in Helsinki against Finland (2-0). His last international game he played on 9 May 1992 in Salzburg against Austria ( 4:2 ).

Coaching career

Dariusz Wdowczyk coached from 1998 to 2000 the capital club Polonia Warsaw. With Polonia 2000 he won the Polish Championship, the Polish League Cup and Polish Supercup. After a poor first half of the season 2000/2001 Wdowczyk was made redundant. From 2000 to 2001 he coached the Polish first division club Orlen Plock.
