Graubürzel - Singhabicht

The Graubürzel - Singhabicht or Small Singhabicht ( Melierax metabates ) is a bird of prey in Africa from the Accipitridae family ( Accipitridae ).

Features

The Graubürzel - Singhabicht reaches a body length of 38 to 51 cm and a wingspan of 86-104 cm. The females are weighing 512-852 g on average larger and heavier than the males with 478-700 g The body is that of a hawk or hawk. The top of the wings and the head are dark gray, the chest and throat light gray. Primaries and tail are slate gray to black. The tip of the tail is white, the rich, yellow beak has a gray tip. The legs are red, leg feathers, the tail underside and belly are streaked gray-white.

Way of life

The Graubürzel - Singhabicht lives in savannas and open woodlands. It occurs in many parts of Africa south of the Sahara. Ferguson - Lees & Christie recognize four subspecies: M. m. metabates ( Senegal to South Arabia, south to northern Tanzania ), M. m. theresae (south-west Morocco ), M. m. ignoscens ( South Arabia) and M. m. mechowi (Uganda and Tanzania south to northeastern South Africa).
