Darko Horvat

Darko Horvat ( born May 19, 1973 in Krapina ) is a former Croatian football player.

Career

As a player

Darko Horvat was born in 1973 in Krapina in Croatia today. In his home country Horvat played throughout his career for Istra Pula, Rijeka NK, NK Solin and Inter Zaprešić.

By January 2005 he was at Inter Zaprešić under contract. He then moved to Germany in the 2nd Bundesliga for Dynamo Dresden. After initial difficulties and some serious errors and short-term banishment to the bench, he managed to get back to play in the first team, where he was very popular with powerful performance even with the fans.

On 14 March 2006 his contract with Dynamo Dresden was extended due to its services by the year 2008. Only three weeks later, he retired but in the game against FC Erzgebirge Aue a cruciate ligament injury to, which threatened him the sports disability. Because of his contract was terminated by mutual consent after the descent of Dynamo Dresden at the end of the season.

After Auskurierung his injury, he signed a contract for the 2007/ 08 season at the then Oberliga Hallescher FC, ​​where he is also first-choice goalkeeper since then. With the HFC he succeeded within five years of the rise of the league until the third Football League. In his first season with the Saale townspeople he became a master of the Oberliga West in 2008 and qualified for the Regionalliga Nord. The following season ended successfully, Horvat was a safe support of his team and led the club to the Regional Vice championship. His first goal, which he also scored in the 2-2 draw in the 2008 /09 season against Türkiyemspor Berlin head, was nominated for goal of the month.

Horvat's contract with the Saale urbanites has since been extended annually, most recently until 30 June 2013.

In the season 2011/12 he finally succeeded with the Halle FC promotion to the third soccer league and therefore the return to professional football. During this season Horvat was in all 34 league matches over the full season on the field and only had to plug in 15 goals, a feat no other goalkeeper had. For this he was honored as the best goalkeeper in the fourth division. Also in his third league season he was the undisputed number one goal at Halle FC.

On March 20, 2013 Darko Horvat announced that he would contest the end of the 2012/13 season his last game as a professional footballer. With the last home game on May 18, 2013 against FC Saarbrücken on 38.Spieltag the 3rd Bundesliga he finished with a 2-1 win his active playing career.

As a coach

At the end of his playing career Darko Horvat announced that he will retire to his family in Zagreb, where a job will start as a young coach.
