Darren Jensen

Darren Aksel Jensen ( born May 27, 1960 in Creston, British Columbia) is a former Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who played in 1985 and 1986 for the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League.

Career

The team from the University of North Dakota, he had an outstanding junior career. In the NHL Entry Draft in 1980 it chose the Hartford Whalers in the fifth round as from 92.

His first stop in the professional sector were the Fort Wayne Komets in the IHL. Here he showed a very strong performance. After failing to agree on a contract with the Whalers, he signed as a free agent with the Philadelphia Flyers. In the 1984/85 season he only came to an insert and played mostly for the Hershey Bears in the AHL.

Due to the tragic death of Pelle Lindbergh, and a violation of Bob Froese he moved into the goal the Flyers. In its 29 inserts the Flyers went 15 times as the winner of the ice. In two games, he did not concede. Despite good performances committed the Flyers Glenn Resch and sent him to Hershey Jensen back. As a young, strong goalkeeper moved in with Ron Hextall Flyers into the spotlight, they gave Jensen another chance. In the summer of 1987, he was released to the Vancouver Canucks, for whom he but was never used.
