Darren Potter

Darren Michael Potter ( born December 21, 1984 in Liverpool) is an Irish football player. The central midfielder was in his hometown both in the youth team of Everton FC and Liverpool FC active, but could the latter club in the professional department ultimately prevail not. Currently, the Irish international is active for the second division club Sheffield Wednesday.

Sports career

Potter was active at a young age already in the youth departments of three renowned English football clubs. He started at Everton and returned via the detour of Blackburn Rovers at the age of 15 years in his hometown, where he was henceforth formed in the "Liverpool Academy". In the professional team of FC Liverpool he came mostly outside the Premier League to the course. He made his debut on 10 August 2004 in the Champions League qualifier against Grazer AK on as a substitute in the 85th minute for Steve Finnan - the game ended with a 2-0 away win - and stood in the return match against the Austrians on the full game time on the field. After Potter had been in various Irish youth national teams and it stood in the squad for the Junior World Championship in the United Arab Emirates in 2003, he came on 23 May 2007 against Ecuador in New York's Giants Stadium for his first international match for the Irish national team.
