Darryl Shannon

Darryl Shannon ( * June 21, 1968 in Barrie, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who in his playing days from 1985 to 2004 among others for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Winnipeg Jets, Buffalo Sabres, Atlanta Thrashers, Calgary Flames and Montreal Canadiens has played in the National Hockey League. His younger brother Darrin is also a former hockey player.

Career

Darryl Shannon began his career as a hockey player with the Windsor Spitfires, which until 1988 he was active from 1985 in the Canadian top junior league Ontario Hockey League and with whom he the J. Ross Robertson Cup won in the 1987/88 season. During this period, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1986 in the second round than a total of 36 players from the Toronto Maple Leafs, for whom he played from 1988 to 1993 as well as for their farm team of the American Hockey League, the Newmarket Saints and the St. John 's Maple Leafs. This was followed by three seasons with the Winnipeg Jets and the Buffalo Sabres before the defender in the 1999/00 season for the Atlanta Thrashers and Calgary Flames was on the ice.

In the 2001 / 02 season, Shannon played for the Montreal Canadiens, but was used in only seven games in which he gave a presentation. He also ran in four games for the AHL farm team Quebec citadels. Then the Canadians went to Europe, where he received a contract with the Krefeld Penguins of the DEL, with whom he 03 German champion in the season 2002 /. Following this success, he joined the Berlin Polar Bears, with whom he failed in the 2003/04 season in the DEL finals at the Frankfurt Lions, and he ended his active career.
