Darwin Airline, which carries out flights under the name of Etihad Regional, is a Swiss airline based in Lugano and based on the Lugano-Agno airport.

History

The airline was founded in 2003 after the national airline Swiss Lugano had deleted from its network. Since the end of July 2004, Darwin Airline has an operating permit from the Federal Office for Civil Aviation (FOCA ) and commenced scheduled operations with the maiden flight from Lugano to Geneva on 28 July 2004.

In November 2010, the Company announced the acquisition of the objectives served by Baboo as well as a part of their business activities. The acquisition was fully drawn in the first quarter of 2011 after approval by the competent authorities.

In November 2013 it was announced that Etihad Airways takes a share of 33.3 percent. Darwin Airline will operate in the future under the name of Etihad Regional and will be significantly increased.

Destinations

Darwin Airline operates flights from Lugano and Geneva through to European cities. Be Flew et al Rome, Cambridge, Valencia and Prague.

Since June 2013, the daily service from Bolzano to Rome is offered based on a code-share agreement with Alitalia.

Since September 2, 2013 Darwin flies the airport Leipzig-Halle total of 24 times per week from Paris and Amsterdam ( each 12 times, Monday to Friday, twice on weekends once a day) from to.

By mid- 2014, the number of destinations will increase from 15 to 34.
