Daryl Impey

Daryl Impey ( born December 6, 1984 in Johannesburg) is a South African cyclist.

Career

Daryl Impey 2004 could decide a stage at the Giro del Capo for themselves. The road Cycling Championships in Salzburg in 2006, he started in the road race in the U23 riders, but could not finish the race. A little later he was at the African Cup of Mauritius only third in the time trial behind the professional Robert Hunter and two days later fourth in the road race behind Darren Lill. In 2007 he won the prologue of the Giro del Capo. He won his first stage race in 2009 with the Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey, despite a caused by the Dutch racing driver Theo Bos fall, in which Impey is seriously injured. At the Tour de France 2013 Impey took over after the 6th stage the leadership of Appreciation by teammate Simon Gerrans who crossed the finish line a few seconds later, and thus became the first African winner of the yellow jersey.
