Dassault Falcon 10

The Dassault Falcon 10 is a light business aircraft. It was developed from the former company Breguet, which is merged with Dassault and now known by the name of Dassault Aviation.

In June 1969, development of the aircraft, which is a scaled down version of the Dassault Falcon 20 has been announced. The maiden flight of the first prototype (F- WFAL ) took place on December 1, 1970, with General Electric CJ610 -6 engines. The first flight showed significant deficiencies and the machine had to be redesigned. The setting angle, the dihedral and the sweep of the wings have been modified. The flight tests were then resumed on 7 May 1971. On June 1, 1971, the class world record achieved over the closed 1000 km route with 930.7 km / h The second prototype (F- WTAL ) followed on 15 October 1971 already with the series TFE 731-2 engines, followed by a third prototype on 14 October 1972. This third machine also achieved a world record for the class closed 2000 km course with 917.02 km / h, flown on 29 May 1973.

First customer was the Pan American Buissiness Jets Division with an order over 40 machines. The first production aircraft flew on 30 April in1973. French Approval was granted on September 11, 1973, FAA certification followed on 20 September 1973. Deliveries of the first production aircraft was carried out from 1 November 1973.

The Falcon 10 was manufactured in three versions. The Falcon 10 A provides up to seven passengers and is recognizable by the three side windows in the fuselage. The Falcon 10 B can accommodate up to nine passengers. A military version, produced in seven copies for the French Navy was called Falcon 10mer. From the mid- 1980, the improved model 100 with EFIS glass cockpit, higher takeoff weight, a fourth cabin window on the right side and a larger luggage space has been delivered.

It is driven by two turbofan engines of the type Garrett Ai Research TFE 731-2, each with 1,465 kp thrust. The maximum cruising speed of 920 km / h at an altitude of 9150 meters. The range with four passengers is 3,940 kilometers, plus a reserve of 45 minutes with seven passengers at 3,200 kilometers.

The aircraft is 13.08 meters long and 4.61 meters high, the wingspan is 13.08 meters, the wing area of ​​24.1 square meters. The curb weight of the Falcon 10 is 4480 kg, the maximum takeoff weight at 8300 kg. The Falcon 100 weighs 5055 kg unladen, laden maximum of 8755 kg. The crew consists of two pilots.

The French air force and navy have still several Falcon 10 aircraft in operation as a fast connection.
