Data terminal equipment

Data terminal equipment (DTE, Eng. Data terminal equipment DTE or abbreviated ) is a collective term for all devices in a data transmission system to send and / or receive the data.

Typically, PCs, printers or terminals DTE devices, but also and ATMs are from a technical perspective, data transmission terminals.

Together with a data transmission device ( DÜE ) is the DTE according to DIN 44302, a data station. The DTE converts user data to an application in transmissible units, while the DCE is responsible for physical transmission.
