Daulis

Daulis (also Daulia, Dauleia ) was an ancient city in the Greek countryside Phocis.

The Greek mythology called Daulis as the home of Tereus. Homer also mentions the city to be named after an eponymous nymph ( the daughter of the river god Kephisos ).

During the Persian Wars Daulis was 480 BC destroyed the first time. 395 BC the city of Thebes was attacked. 346 BC Daulis was destroyed again during the Third Sacred War. 220 BC attacked the Aetolians to the city. 198 BC, the Romans took Titus Quinctius Flamininus under the city.

In late antiquity Daulis bishopric was (on the diocese is the titular Daulia the Roman Catholic Church back ). Remains of the city walls are still seen today in the place Davlia.
