Dauphin County, Pennsylvania
Dauphin County is a county located in the state of Pennsylvania in the United States. In 2004, the County had 253 282 inhabitants and a population density of 185 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is since 1812 Harrisburg.
The county was founded on March 4, 1785 released from the Lancaster County and after the Dauphin, the French heir, named. County Seat ( administrative seat ) is Harrisburg.
Geography
The county has an area of 1444 square kilometers, of which 84 square kilometers are water surface. The county is bounded on its western border by the Susquehanna River. It is bordered clockwise to the County: Northumberland County, Schuylkill County, Lebanon County, Lancaster County, York County, Cumberland County and Perry County.
