Geography
Geographical location
Dautmergen located in the western foothills of the Swabian Alb. Above the village is the Schömberger Schlichemtalsperre. Through the community's Schlichem flows.

Historical Geography
In Schlichemtal probably lay a Juchhausen designated location as Juchhusa first finds mention 793 and is likely to come off in the 13th century.
History
In 1944, sub-camp Natzweiler -Struthof were built as part of the "Business desert " to win as part of the backup plan mineral oil from oil shale (see also KZ Bisingen ). In the fall of 1944 on secondment as camp commander in Dautmergen Sergeant Erwin Dold was the only concentration camp commander, who was acquitted after the Second World War because of proven innocence.
