Dave Alexander (musician)

David Michael Alexander ( born June 3, 1947 † February 10, 1975 in Ann Arbor, Michigan), nicknamed " Zander " and " Dude Arnett ," was an American rock musician, bassist of the proto punk band The Stooges.

The Asheton brothers Ron and Scott and Dave Alexander were school friends, who all left high school early. Dave started playing guitar, Ron Bass. Along with Iggy Pop, with initially three 1967, the Stooges. In the band wanted to play guitar Ron and Dave played bass.

Alexander had a significant influence on the first two albums the Stooges, The Stooges and Fun House. Iggy Pop and Ron Asheton called him in interviews the main author of the songs "We Will Fall", " Little Doll " (both on The Stooges ), " 1970 " and " Dirt" ( Fun House ).

Alexander began early to regularly drink alcohol and take drugs. He had a penchant for the occult and focused mainly on Aleister Crowley and Madame Blavatsky.

In August 1970 Alexander was kicked out of the band after he had appeared completely drunk for performance at the Goose Lake International Music Festival.

Dave Alexander died in 1975 at the age of 27 years, probably from the effects of excessive alcohol consumption.
