Dave Barbour

David "Dave" Michael Barbour ( born May 28, 1912 in New York; † December 11, 1965 in Malibu, California ) was an American jazz guitarist of the swing.

Barbour first played banjo, then guitar, among others Adrian Rollini (1933 ), Wingy Manone (1934 ), Red Norvo ( 1935-36 ), Artie Shaw ( 1939), Benny Goodman ( 1942), Charlie Barnet (1945 ) and Woody Herman (1949 ), with whom he toured Cuba. Together with Peggy Lee, whom he met in Goodman's orchestra and with whom he was married from 1943 to 1952, he wrote a number of songs, including Mañana and It's A Good Day. Barbour took plates under his own name, with Benny Carter, Bunny Berigan, Red McKenzie, Louis Armstrong, Mildred Bailey, Lil Armstrong, Jack Teagarden, Charlie Barnet, André Previn, Teddy Wilson, Helen Humes / Lester Young and Charlie Ventura on.
