Dave Brown (ice hockey)

David James Brown ( born October 12, 1962 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player. During his career he played for the Philadelphia Flyers, Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League.

Career

Brown, who was with a size of 1.96 meters during his career, a notorious enforcer, played from 1980 to 1982, first in the Western Hockey League for the Spokane Flyers and Saskatoon Blades. After him, the Philadelphia Flyers had selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1982 in the seventh round at 140th position, he signed there before the 1982/83 season his first professional contract. Mainly used in the AHL farm team of the flyer, which debuted Canadians still in his first year as a pro in the National Hockey League. After a further playing time, he commuted between the farm and professional team, he established himself from the 1984/85 season in the root cadres of Philadelphia, which was mainly because that the rough at that time and physical play system Flyers perfectly tailored to his style of play had. In the seasons 1984/85 and 1986/87 it reached with the team's final series for the Stanley Cup, but lost both series.

After a transfer prior to the 1991/92 season the Canadians returned to the Flyers back to Philadelphia. With him also the Finn Jari Kurri and Corey Foster were changed to the East Coast. In contrast, had to make its way to Edmonton Scott Mellanby, Craig Berube and Craig Fisher. Brown remained another four seasons in Philadelphia before he signed a contract as a free agent in August 1995 at the San Jose Sharks. At the end of the 1995/96 season the Canadians ended after 729 NHL games in which he collected 97 points, and 1789 penalty minutes, his career.
