Dave Burrows

Dave Burrows ( born January 11, 1949 in Toronto, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who was active during his playing career for the Pittsburgh Penguins and Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League.

Career

After Dave Burrows was active as a youth player for the Dixie Beehives and the St. Catharines Black Hawks, he went in 1969 for the Dallas Black Hawks in the Central Hockey League on the ice and earned there once a regular place. Burrows, who had previously never drafted, was selected on 8 June 1971 at the Intra -League Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins, previously held the Chicago Blackhawks its players' rights. In his very first season of the defensive player came to 77 races for the Penguins in the regular season of the National Hockey League, scoring twelve points. Although little talented, he managed to become a major defensive strong defender who was able to convince especially in one -on-one situations in the following years.

With the Penguins, he never failed to qualify for the finals for the Stanley Cup and was released on 14 June 1978 to the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for Randy Carlyle and George Ferguson went to Pittsburgh. Burrows was invited during his career total of three times to a NHL All-Star Game, and represented there once the team in the Western Conference All-Stars and two times the team of Wales Conference All-Stars. After two years in Toronto Burrows came back again for one season on the Penguins and finished in the summer of 1981 his active career.
