Dave Irwin

David Benjamin "Dave" Irwin ( born July 12, 1954 in Loch Lomond, Ontario) is a former Canadian alpine skier.

Irwin grew up in Thunder Bay. During the 1970s he formed together with Jim Hunter, Dave Murray, Steve Podborski and Ken Read, the so-called Crazy Canucks.

A few days after the success of Ken Read in the downhill in Val d'Isere could also Irwin to win. On 19 December 1975 Irwin won his first and only World Cup race in the downhill in Schladming. A few weeks later he was at the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck eighth in the downhill. Four years later, at the Olympic Winter Games in Lake Placid, he finished in eleventh place in the same discipline.

In his last active racing season 1981/82 he still scored the 3rd place behind Peter Mueller and Steve Podborski in Whistler.
