Dave Manson

Dave Manson ( born January 27, 1967 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player and current coach, who in his active years from 1983 to 2002 among others for the Chicago Blackhawks, Edmonton Oilers, Winnipeg Jets, Phoenix Coyotes, Canadiens de Montréal, Dallas Stars and Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League played.

Career

Dave Manson began his career as a hockey player in his hometown at the Prince Albert Raiders, for which he was active from 1983 to 1986 in the Canadian junior Western Hockey League. During this period, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1985 in the first round as a whole eleventh players from the Chicago Blackhawks. For the Blackhawks, he played from 1986 to 1991 in the National Hockey League and became one of the leading players of his team. At the beginning of his professional career, he was also in six games for Chicago's farm team Saginaw Hawks in the International Hockey League on the ice. Rewarded for his good performances he was charged with participating in the NHL All-Star Game in 1989. For 1991/92 season of the defenders were submitted within the NHL for the Edmonton Oilers, where he also was able to convince in the next two three-quarter years. In his time with the Oilers he participated in the NHL All-Star Game 1993 part. Shortly before the end of the 1993/94 season the Canadians was transferred to the Winnipeg Jets. When the franchise was relocated to the 1996/97 season, he also played first for Winnipeg's successor Team Phoenix Coyotes before he was released to the Canadiens de Montréal in March 1997 in exchange for Murray Baron and Chris Murray.

At the beginning of the 1998/99 season Manson was part of an extensive transfers, which allowed him to return to the Chicago Blackhawks. This left him after 15 months in February 2000 could be drawn to stars reigning Stanley Cup champion Dallas. With the Stars, he reached in the 2000 /01 season also the Stanley Cup final, failed with his team but with 2:4 victories in the New Jersey Devils. Following the season the former national player signed a contract as a free agent with the Toronto Maple Leafs. This gave him in November 2001 in exchange for the Finns Jyrki Lumme back to the Dallas Stars from where he ended his career at the age of 35 years following the 2001/ 02 season. Most recently, he had also played two games for Dallas ' farm team Utah Grizzlies of the American Hockey League.

Since 2002, Manson has worked as an assistant coach for his former team WHL Prince Albert Raiders.

Internationally

For Canada Manson took part in the 1993 World Championships, where he was elected to the All-Star Team of the tournament.
