Dave Matthews

David John Matthews ( born January 9, 1967 in Johannesburg, South Africa) is a singer-songwriter and guitarist. In addition to his main role as a singer and guitarist in the eponymous Dave Matthews Band, he also appears solo and in duet with guitarist Tim Reynolds and others ribbon assembly as Dave Matthews & Friends. As an actor he has been involved in four movies. He is also known for his falsetto singing with which he is capable of very high notes to be taken.

Life

At the age of two years, Dave Matthews emigrated with his parents from Westchester County ( New York), where his father, a physicist, started working at the company IBM.

In the early 1970s he moved to Cambridge ( UK), before he returned to New York.

In 1980 the family returned to South Africa; Dave Matthews was visiting different schools. According to country of birth South African citizen Matthews was, after graduating from high school must provide direct two-year military service. The family belonged to the religious- pacifist Quakers, that was not according to their wishes. The mother got a special exemption from the Charlotte Vill University, where her father had heard as a physics professor at the notables, so that her son Dave was taken there.

The idea for his own band, he had finally, after he moved to Charlottesville ( Virginia), the place where his parents were still alive before his birth. There he was involved in the local music scene.

In early 1991 he founded the Dave Matthews Band; at that time he worked as a bartender at Miller 's in Charlottesville. The first appearance of the band took place at a private party in downtown Charlottesville on May 11, 1991.

Finally, in 1993 the first album of Dave Matthews Band Remember two things. In the same year his sister Anne died in South Africa. The album Under the Table and Dreaming is dedicated to her.

Dave Matthews published in late 2003, the solo album Some Devil, but despite the generally good reviews had only moderate success. Using the Single Grave Digger but he won the 2004 Grammy for Best Rock Vocal Performance - Male. The song was gecovered 2008 by Willie Nelson.

In 2003, he played Will Coleman in the film adaptation of the novel Where the Red Fern Grows ( Wilson Rawls ). Dave Matthews can be heard as a guest vocalist on official studio and live productions for and with numerous artists: eg Blue Man Group, Santana, Johnny Cash, Soulive, Rolling Stones, Béla Fleck & the Flecktones, Jurassic 5, and many more

Today ( as of 2008) Dave Matthews lives with his wife Ashley, twin daughters and a son in Seattle (Washington).
