Dave Petrie

David Dick Petrie, mostly Dave Petrie (born 10 December 1946 in Edinburgh, † 31 August 2011) was a Scottish politician and member of the Conservative Party.

Petrie visited the Trinity Academy in Edinburgh, and left the Heriot-Watt University with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. Subsequently, he earned the right to teach in mathematics at the Moray House School of Education.

For the first time Petrie went to to national elections in the parliamentary elections of 1999. He stood as a candidate in the constituency of Argyll and Bute, but was only 14.9 % of the combined votes and thus failed to reach the newly created Scottish Parliament. In 2001 he went to the British general election in the constituency of Argyll and Bute and received the third-largest share of votes. In the parliamentary elections in 2003, he missed despite a slight vocal gains again the direct mandate of Argyll and Bute clear.

On 21 March 2006, died the MP for the constituency of Moray, Margaret Ewing, which is why on 27 April 2006 by-elections were held in this constituency. To be able to run in this election, gave Petrie's party colleague Mary Scanlon their mandate for election Highlands and Islands back. Since Petrie stood in the constituency in the 2003 elections on the third rank of the Conservative Party, he slid Scanlon's resignation prior to second place and took her seat in the Scottish Parliament for the rest of the legislative period. Since he received only 5.5 % of the vote in the constituency Western Isles, for which he took in the 2007 parliamentary elections, left Petrie 2007 from the Parliament.
