Dave Schultz (wrestling)

David Schultz ( born June 6, 1959 in Palo Alto, California, † January 26, 1996 in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania) was an American wrestler.

Career

David Schultz began like most U.S. Ringer his career at the high school. After high school days in Palo Alto, he attended universities in Oklahoma and won here several NCAA Championships. 1977 also began his international success with a win in the Pan American Championships. His first successes he achieved even in the Greco-Roman style, later moving to free style on. His greatest successes were the Olympic gold medal in 1984 in Los Angeles and winning the 1983 World Championship in Kiev. In addition, he still won five more world championship medals. He also denied many strong international tournaments occupied, of which he won some, so 1984 and 1991 in Tbilisi, 1985 in Tokyo, 1983, 1990 and 1991 in Paris and Clermont- Ferrand and at the Goodwill Games in 1986.

The brother of David Schultz, Mark, was also a very successful wrestler and Olympic champion in 1984 in the middleweight ( up to 82 kg body weight).

David Schultz has worked during his time as an active wrestler as coach at Stanford University, the University of Oklahoma and the University of Wisconsin. 1995/96 he was manager of the private wrestling team " Foxcatcher - squad" in Newtown Square, which was sponsored by the multi-millionaire John E. DuPont. This shot dead on 26 January 1996 of a dispute out David Schultz. David Schultz, leaving his wife and two children and was in Ashland, Oregon, buried.
