Dave Sheppard

Dave Sheppard ( born December 12, 1931 in New York City; † 1 October 2000) was an American weightlifter.

Career

Dave Sheppard was active in sports as a boy in many ways. In particular, in gymnastics and gymnastics. Already at the age of 11 he began weightlifting. In 1947 and in the following years he won several regional junior championships. In 1950, at the age of 18, he won the U.S. Junior Championship in the lightweight and finished in the U.S. Senior Championships 3rd place. On this occasion he presented in beidarmigen tearing with 114.5 kg his first American record. In 1951 he started, now grown in the middleweight division, for the first time at a World Cup. In the following years he was active several times at the Olympics and World Championships, but no victory was granted to him. Thomas Kono or Arkady Vorobyov could always put in front of him. After 1958, he played only more national competitions. In 1963, he won his last victory at the championships of California.
