Davíð was born on the farm Fagriskógur on 21 January 1895. Therefore, he also moved his nickname DAVID Stefánsson frá Fagraskógi.

Davíð the school closed Gagnfræðaskólinn á Akureyri from 1911 with the final exam. The years 1915-1916 he spent in Copenhagen, where he began to write and publish. Individualist and neo-romantic

Davíð Stefánsson was in many ways a typical poet of romanticism, it being noted that the literary movements in Iceland often arrived later and lasted longer than in other European countries. He focused more on the inner life of the individual as on the Human Environment. His poetry is characterized by the expression of strong feelings and antagonisms. A strong national feeling, hero worship, aestheticism and freedom of thinking are the defining elements of his lyrics.

Last published poems by him posthumously in 1966.
