David Aaker

David Allen Aaker (* 1938 in Fargo, North Dakota) is an American economist.

He studied up to the Bachelor's degree at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and received Ph. D. and MA at Stanford University

From 1981 until his retirement in 2000, he worked as a professor of marketing at the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. Responsible towards the end of the 1980s developed the concept of brand equity ( brand value ). Aaker is also Vice-Chairman of the Strategy Consulting prophet.

Aaker received the 1996 Paul D. Converse Award for outstanding contributions to the advancement of marketing and has more than 100 articles published; several times he was awarded Best Article Award from the Journal of Marketing and the California Management Review.

He is a member of the Board of Directors of the California Casualty Insurance Company and the Contra Costa Food Bank.
