David Adeang

David Adeang (* November 24, 1969 ) is a politician nauruischer. He is one of the founding members of the party Naoero Amo, who is currently single successful party in Nauru.

Adeang is the son of former President Kennan Adeang. He began his political career as a lawyer. In the last parliamentary elections on 3 May 2003, during the political and economic turmoil, won the Naoero Amo 3 of the 18 seats in Parliament; one of them went to Adeang. The Naoero Amo went into a coalition with Ludwig Scotty and his followers. Scotty was elected president, and shortly afterwards he called Adeang of Finance. Those post he retained until three months later in August 2003 Scotty's government fell by a vote of no confidence and Kinza Clodumar was appointed by René Harris of Finance.

On 22 June 2004, Clodumar and Naoero Amo united to support Ludwig Scotty in the successful vote of no confidence against Harris. Clodumar remained finance minister while Adeang Foreign Affairs and Minister of Justice. His appointment as Foreign Minister is interesting because it is the first foreign minister, who is president the same time. Since independence in 1968, every president was foreign minister.

In August 2007 Adeang was re-elected and nominated by the opposition even as a presidential candidate; Adeang however, declined on the grounds that it was not a game, which he himself nominated Scotty. Scotty won then the presidential election against Marcus Stephen significantly. Following the successful vote of no confidence against Scotty's government in December 2007 Adeang had to resign as Secretary of State. Reason for the vote of no confidence were, inter alia, Corruption and Intransparenzanschuldigungen to Adeang in conjunction with relations with Asian businessmen; investigations are currently underway.

On 18 March 2008 the deposed opposition tried to Scotty and Adeang to force a re- vote of no confidence. However, since the incumbent Speaker of Parliament Riddell Akua, which derives such a vote without voting participation, immediately resigned and none of the opposition for the acquisition of this post agreed, no vote came about. On 20 March 2008, after numerous attempts Nomination Adeang took the post of parliament speaker to surprisingly. After the elections on 26 April Adeang resigned as Speaker of the House back.
