David Attenborough
Sir David Frederick Attenborough, OM, CH, CVO, CBE ( born May 8, 1926 in London ) is a British wildlife filmmaker and naturalist. David Attenborough is best known for its award- winning nature documentaries that he produced on behalf of the BBC. He is the younger brother of director and actor Richard Attenborough.
Education and professional career
Attenborough visited the Wyggeston Grammar School for Boys in Leicester and won a scholarship to Clare College, Cambridge, where he earned a degree in science.
He entered 1947 in the British Navy ( Royal Navy ) and served there for two years. He then worked for a publishing company. In 1952 he established the first contacts with the BBC. His relationship with science programs began in 1954 with the series Zoo Quest.
From 1965 to 1968 Attenborough worked as controller of BBC2. Subsequently, he was until 1972 Programme Director for the television channels BBC 1 and BBC 2 He made the offer to become Director General of the BBC, and left in 1972, the BBC management, in order to concentrate on the production of programs.
Among the series in which he has participated include Match of the Day, Pot Black, The Likely Lads, Not Only ... But Also, Horizon, Man Alive, Master Class, The Forsyte Saga, [ [ The Old Grey Whistle Test] ] and The Money Programme. The diversity of these series went back to Attenborough's belief that the offer of BBC 2 should be as versatile as possible.
Documentation
Among the major TV documentary series part of the trilogy Attenborough: Life on Earth, The Living Planet and The Trials of Life ( Trials of Life). These programs examine the organisms of the world from the viewpoints of taxonomy, ecology and evolutionary biology.

Attenborough also moderates the long time series Wildlife on One on BBC One ( depending on the channel and Wildlife on Two, BBC Wildlife and Natural World called ).
Even before his work as a nature filmmaker, he devoted himself very comprehensively the broad field of tribal art from non-European indigenous peoples. His 7teilige documentation The Tribal Eye from 1975 is still the most comprehensive cinematic work on the subject dar. two episodes devoted to African art, one of the Indians in British Columbia, the indigenous people of South America, the nomads of Iran and the Sepik peoples of New Guinea. An extra episode deals with the influence of tribal art objects on the international art markets.
Honors
The British Academy of Film and Television Arts awarded Attenborough in 1970 Desmond Davis Award and named him a Fellow in 1979. In 1974 he was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire. David Attenborough in 1981 awarded the Kalinga Prize for the Popularization of Science. The Royal Society elected him a Fellow in 1983, In 1985 he was knighted. The Golden Camera was awarded to him in 1992. In 2004 he was awarded the Descartes Prize for outstanding achievement in the teaching of science, and in 2007 awarded him the Faculty of Science at Uppsala University honorary doctorate in commemoration of Carolus Linnaeus. 2009 Attenborough received the Prince of Asturias Award in the category of Social Sciences.
Some people said the former BBC producer Brian Leith, believe that David Attenborough's fifty-year BBC career with the numerous trips for nature programs have made him the most widely traveled people of all times.
In his honor, several types, including the fossil species Materpiscis attenboroughi, the carnivorous plant Nepenthes attenboroughii, and the Attenborough - Long -beaked Echidna ( Zaglossus attenboroughi ) were named.
