Dávid Bérczes

Dávid Berczes ( born January 14, 1990 in Borås, Sweden) is a Hungarian chess master.

Berczes was 2005 International Champion and 2008 Grand Master. His family moved back from Sweden to Hungary, as Berczes was two and a half years old. The game of chess has taught him his mother at age six. His older brother Csaba has won 2005, the Hungarian Chess Championship, both sisters are active in volleyball, one plays in a professional team. Since 2003, he is trained by Grandmaster Péter Lukács. In the 2007 /08 season he played in the chess Bundesliga for the SK Zehlendorf.

When Rilton Cup 2007/2008 Berczes has shared the first prize with Elo performance in 2638, in the summer of 2008, he has fought for the last almost 20 points above 2500 ELO border and the fourth GM norm at the tournament in Biel.
