David Berlinski

David Berlinski ( born February 5, 1942 in New York City ) is an American mathematician.

Life

David Berlinski received his doctorate in philosophy at Princeton University and worked as a postdoctoral fellow in mathematics and molecular biology at Columbia University. He taught philosophy, mathematics and English, among others at Stanford University, Rutgers University, the City University of New York and the Sorbonne and had research at IIASA in Laxenburg and at the IHES in Paris.

Berlinski has published works on systems analysis, differential topology, theoretical biology, analytic philosophy and philosophy of mathematics, as well as three novels, as well as easily understandable books on mathematics and history of science topics. Essays by him appeared in Commentary Magazine, Forbes ASAP, in the Boston Review and the Discovery Institute in Seattle, the organization of the main representatives of intelligent design.

Berlinski worked with Marcel Schützenberger at a mathematical critique of Darwinism. As a staunch opponent of the theory of evolution, he is a Fellow of the Center for Science and Culture at the Discovery Institute.

Criticism

In his article, The Deniable Darwin ( 1996), which appeared in Commentary magazine, Berlinski is expressed critical of the theory of evolution. The sudden appearance of many species during the Cambrian explosion, the lack of fossils prove the transitions, the evolution of the eye, the evolution of sharks would include evidence that would speak against the theory of evolution. This item has been viewed by the historian of science Ronald L. Numbers than one version of Intellegent Design theory. The philosopher Daniel Dennett described the article as bullshit.

Berlinski 's book The Deniable Darwin was criticized by Eugenie Scott, executive director of the National Center for Science Education.

In the film,

In the documentary Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed by Ben Stein Berlinski is interviewed on the topic of evolution and is expressed very negative about the evolutionary biologist and atheist Richard Dawkins. Although this is very clever, but reminded him of a " reptile ".
