David Bratton

David Bratton (* October 1869 in New York; † December 3, 1904 in Chicago ) was an American swimmer and water polo player.

At the Olympic Games in 1904 Bratton stepped to the 4x50m relay team, with whom he reached the fourth place. He also appeared along with his teammates from the New York Athletic Club George van Cleaf, Leo Goodwin, Louis Handley, David Hesser, Joseph Ruddy and James Steen, with whom he reached the gold medal. The water ball games were held in a heavily polluted lake, which is why Bratton fell ill a few months after his victory at typhoid fever and died a short time later.
