David Browning

David Greig " Skippy " Browning Jr ( born June 5, 1931 in Boston, † March 14, 1956 in Rantoul, Kansas ) was an American diver, the 1952 Olympic champion in springboard diving.

Browning studied at the University of Texas and won four championships students. Between 1949 and 1954 he was six times U.S. Indoor Champion and twice outdoor champion. In the 1952 Olympics he won the title in front of his countrymen Miller Anderson and Robert Clotworthy, the Mexican Joaquin Capilla was the best place 4 non- Americans. After his Olympic victory, he tried to pick up as a souvenir an Olympic flag from the mast, but was caught and imprisoned for a short time; his coaches were allowed to pick him up from jail and accompany you to the crew quarters.

In April 1956, a fortnight before the scheduled exercise program for the 1956 Olympic Games, Browning fell as a member of the U.S. Navy from his plane over Kansas. In 1975 he was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the international swimming sport.
