David Byrne

David Byrne ( born May 14, 1952 in Dumbarton, Scotland ) is a British musician living in the U.S. (vocals and guitar) Scottish origin. In 1975 he founded the pop group Talking Heads and was known as the front man.

Life

David Byrne came at the age of four with his parents to the United States, however, never took U.S. citizenship.

Successful Byrne was not only with the Talking Heads, but also with his 1981 solo career begun. His first recorded together with Brian Eno plate My Life in the Bush of Ghosts is considered groundbreaking for the use of (then analog ) Sampling mainly of traditional ethnic music.

1986 Byrne worked in the film True Stories as a director, producer and screenwriter; Furthermore, he starred alongside John Goodman also starred. In the same year he also worked with Philip Glass composed the Songs from Liquid Days, for which he wrote the lyrics for the part. Except as musicians Byrne also works as a conceptually motivated photographer and artist. He has published several art books and a columnist for the New York Times.
