David Cooper (ice hockey)

David Cooper ( born November 2, 1973 in Ottawa, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who spent three seasons in the National Hockey League and three in the German Ice Hockey League.

Career

David Cooper began his career in 1988 in the Alberta Junior Hockey League with the Edmonton Mets. From 1989 to 1993 he played in the Western Hockey League for the Medicine Hat Tigers. In 1996, he signed as a free agent with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Here he came to his NHL debut and was in two seasons in both the NHL and the AHL active. 1998 transferred him the Leafs in exchange for Ladislav Kohn to the Calgary Flames. However, this sent him to the AHL, where he played for the Saint John Flames. For the season 1999 /00 Cooper moved to Europe at the Kassel Huskies in the German Hockey League. In 2000 he again took an offer from the Toronto Maple Leafs and played both in the NHL and for the St. John 's Maple Leafs in the AHL.

In the next season he joined the polar bear Berlin. 2002/ 03 he completed ten games for SKA Saint Petersburg. 2003/ 04 he signed for the third time in Germany, this time at the Iserlohn Roosters. The next year he was active in the Italian Serie A for the HC Alleghe and the AS Asiago Hockey. From 2005 to 2007 he played in Denmark for Rødovre Mighty Bulls. Then Cooper spent a year in Italy with the SG Pontebba and then ended his professional hockey career.
