David D. Clark

David Dana Clark ( born April 7, 1944) is an American computer scientist and Internet pioneer. He works as a Senior Research Scientist at MIT.

Clark graduated in 1966 from Swarthmore College. In 1973, he earned a doctoral degree ( Ph.D.) at MIT, where he has since been employed at the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory.

From 1981 to 1989 Clark Chief Protocol Architect of the Internet and was in charge of the Internet Activities Board, which later became the Internet Architecture Board was.

In recognition of his significant contributions to the development of the Internet architecture Clark received in the years 1990 and 2012, SIGCOMM Award and 1998 Richard W. Hamming Medal from the IEEE.
