David D. Kpormakpor

David Donald Kpormakpor ( born September 28, 1935 at Bomi County, Liberia; † August 19, 2010 in Staten Iceland, New York City ) was from 1994 to 1995 during the Liberian civil war, as chairman of the National Council of State of Liberia.

Life

David Kpoormakor was born in Bomi County in western Liberia. His ethnicity of Gola belonging parents were illiterate. Funded by a missionary, Kpormakpor was included in Monrovia at the College of West Africa. After graduating, he received a scholarship for the San Francisco State University and the UCLA Law School. After completing his studies he returned to Liberia and taught as a professor of law at the University of Liberia. From Samuel K. Doe, he was appointed as a judge to the Supreme Court.

Following the resignation of the transitional government led by Amos Sawyer Kpormakor was dated 7 March 1994 until 1 September 1995 as a civilian chairman of the combined laws of representatives of the parties to the conflict Council of State Head of State of Liberia. However, the influence of his government extended only to the vicinity of the capital Monrovia. In September 1995 a new State Council was convened under the leadership of Wilton GS Sankawulo pressure on Charles Taylor. Kpormakpor he was imprisoned for two months and then lived in a guarded from the African peacekeeping force ECOMOG military camp. In 1997 he returned to the United States. On August 19, 2010, he died on Staten Iceland from the effects of a brain tumor.
