David D. Phelps

David Dwain Phelps ( born October 26, 1947 in Eldorado, Illinois) is an American politician. Between 1999 and 2003 he represented the state of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

David Phelps visited the Eldorado Township High School and then studied until 1969 at Southern Illinois University. He then worked as a teacher and in school administration. Between 1980 and 1984 he was employed by the district administration in Saline County. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. Between 1984 and 1998 he sat as an MP in the House of Representatives from Illinois.

In the congressional elections of 1998 Phelps was in the 19th electoral district of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Glenn Poshard on 3 January 1999. After a re-election he was able to complete in Congress until January 3, 2003, two legislative sessions. In his time as a congressman of the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001 and the beginning of the Iraq war fell.

In 2002 he was not re-elected. Today he works for the Department of Transportation in Illinois. David Phelps is also active as a composer and performed as a gospel singer.
