David Defiagbon

David Defiagbon ( born June 12, 1970 in Sapele, Nigeria ) is a Nigerian- Canadian heavyweight boxer.

Amateur

In 1990, he won the Commonwealth Games in Auckland in the welterweight class. In 1991 he took over as Halbmittelgewichtler part in the World Cup in Sydney and retired there in the quarterfinals to eventual champion Juan Carlos Lemus from.

In 1992, he did not come as a representative of Nigeria at the Olympic Games in Barcelona in the light middleweight on the first round out, he lost his razor-thin 7 to 8 Raúl Márquez from the USA.

Successful was his participation in the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, where he won the silver medal. Meanwhile in the heavyweight (91 kg) and antretend for the Canadian team, he reached in the Olympic boxing tournament by a controversial Disqualifikationssieg against Christophe Mendy and one point victory over the Americans Nate Jones the final and had to be there, only the Cuban legend Félix Savón, however, significantly beaten with 2 to 20. His record was 180-20.

Professional

Defiagbon 1996 pro, but never quite came here in momentum. He remained unbeaten long until he was defeated in 2004 in his 22nd professional fight against Oleg Maskajew on points. Against Juan Carlos Gomez, he had no chance in January 2005 and went into the third knockout. After that fight, he finished his career.
