David Di Michele

David Di Michele ( 2007)

David Di Michele ( born January 6, 1976 in Monte Celio Guidonia, Italy) is an Italian football player. He usually plays on the position of center forward and is at Chievo Verona under contract.

Career

Association

Di Michele began in 1993 his professional career at AS Lodigiani, today's Cisco Roma in the Italian Serie C1. In 1996 he moved to Serie B to Foggia Calcio. After only two years, he moved to Salernitana Calcio, in which he made his Serie A debut, but in the second year with Salernitana to Serie B relegation. For the 2001/02 season Di Michele joined Udinese Calcio. There he played a year before he was loaned for two years at Reggina Calcio. After he ascended there to a regular player, Di Michele returned to Udinese. In the 2004/05 season he scored 15 goals for the club, making him the top scorer of his club and was partly responsible for the excellent fourth place in the standings, the one occupied at the end of the season. Also worth mentioning is his appearance in the Italian Cup against U.S. Lecce, he scored two goals. At the end of this game had to then also into the goal, because Udinese keeper Samir Handanovič had with Red from the square, but he parried a penalty in the final minutes and could thus secure his team the 5-4 victory.

After he was taking part in the first round of the 2005/06 season with Udinese in the Champions League, he moved to the second round to Palermo, where he scored two goals in his first game. Overall, he came into this season to seven goals in 19 games for Palermo. In the 2006/07 season he was once again a regular in Palermo and achieved nine goals in 29 games.

After this season, Di Michele moved to FC Turin and has been locked due to illegal betting for three months and was given a fine of 20,000 €. He should have bet " directly or through third parties on the results of official games" of the Italian Association FIGC. Since the corruption scandal in 2005/ 06 it is forbidden for players to bet in Italy. His first game he played for Torino, consequently, only in November against AC Milan, in total he played in Turin a mixed season with six goals in 25 games. In the summer of 2008 it was rumored that Di Michele moves to Middlesbrough FC or AS Roma. But both did not take place and so Di Michele was a bit surprising on the very last day of the transfer period for the 2008/ 09 season on loan at West Ham United. The first half of the season 2009/10 he played again for the Torino, the second half he was loaned to Lecce. For the 2012/13 season Di Michele joined Chievo Verona.

National

His debut in the national team gave Di Michele on 30 March 2005 in a 0-0 draw against Iceland. Since then he played five more games mostly as a substitute.
