David Eddings

David Eddings (* July 7, 1931 in Spokane, Washington; † 2 June 2009) was an American fantasy writer. His wife, Leigh Eddings († 28 February 2007) has worked on many of his books, but is mentioned only in the late works as a co -author.

Life

Eddings grew up in the American state of Washington on Puget Sound. In the period 1954-1956 he served in the U.S. Army. He earned in 1954 at Reed College the academic degree of Bachelor of Arts and in 1961 at the University of Washington to the Master of Arts. On October 27, 1962, he married his wife Judith Leigh Schall. Before he became a writer, he worked for the U.S. armed forces and the aircraft manufacturer Boeing. He lived until his death in Carson City, Nevada.

Work

Eddings ' first books were novels with general issues such as the time of the Hunter ( Bastion Luebbe Verlag) and sold only moderately. His breakthrough came only after he in the genre of adventure or fantasy (also: Epic Fantasy) was changed.
