David Frizzell
David Frizzell ( born September 26, 1941 in El Dorado, Arkansas) is an American country singer.
Life
David hitchhiked at the age of twelve years to California to play in the band of his famous brother Lefty Frizzell. In 1958 he received a first recording contract on the help of his brother. But the way to the top should last 23 years.
For many years, David Frizzell took over again, more or less unsuccessfully plates. He often changed the label and the residence, entered for a short time in the U.S. Air Force and was club owner. In 1981, he took along with Shelly West, who was married to his younger brother Allen, some songs on, including You're The Reason God Made Oklahoma.
The song was initially rejected by several record companies, but turned in a Clint Eastwood film, and was subsequently hit. Shelly and David's interpretation was honored by both the CMA and the ACM "Vocal Duet of the Year " in the same year. The duo had with Another Honky Tonk Night On Broadway and I Just Came Here to Dance two more successes and then went their separate ways.
Career
David prepared soon after with I'm Gonna Hire A Wino To Decorate Our Home a number 1 hit and a year later with Lost My Baby Blues a top 10 placement. In 1984, his short winning streak with A Million Light Beers Ago end. The following years brought again only failures and failures. In 2001 he produced after more than ten years of recording pause the album 2001.
David Frizzell never was able to step out of the shadow of his overbearing brother. He has over fifty years in the business, of which only a few were good. He remained always associated country music, even if it is often only enough to gigs in Las Vegas or on cruise ships. He can build a loyal following. His performances and tours are still in demand.
