David Goffin

David Goffin ( born December 7, 1990 in Liège ) is a Belgian tennis player.

Career

Goffin was initially mainly due to the Challenger Tour active since 2012, however, he also plays on the ATP World Tour. Ever on one of the two tours he won his first title on April 2 at the Challenger tournament in Le Gosier, as he could conquer Mischa Zverev 6-2, 6-2. In the Chennai Open 2012, he won with his victory against his fellow countryman Xavier Malisse first win over a ranked in the top 50 players. For a Grand Slam for the first time he could qualify as a lucky loser at the French Open in 2012 and reached there immediately after victories over Radek Stepanek, Arnaud Clément and Łukasz Kubot the knockout stages. Finally against Roger Federer was defeated despite a 1-0 set lead in four sets. At Wimbledon, he received a wild card and stood after victories against the set at number 20 Australian Bernard Tomic and against the qualifier Jesse Levine in the third round. He retired in three sets against Mardy Fish.

In 2012, he was first appointed to the Belgian Davis Cup team.
