David Goodis

David Goodis ( born March 2, 1917 in Philadelphia, † January 7, 1967 ) was an American novelist and screenwriter.

Goodis grew up in Philadelphia and studied journalism. In 1938 he moved to New York and wrote under various pseudonyms for magazine magazines. During this time his first novel, Retreat from Oblivion was released. In the following years Goodis wrote especially serials for the radio. After initially met with some of his short stories to no interest in film producer, his first published as a serial novel plant Dark Passage was filmed a great success and in 1947 with Humphrey Bogart and Bacall Laureen in the lead roles. Also some other novels were made into films. Goodis is one of the main authors of the film noir. After his death, his works in the United States were hardly yet been printed, but pushed his works mainly in France on interest. Goodis died at the age of 49 of a stroke.
