David Guterson
David Guterson ( born May 4, 1956 in Seattle, Washington) is an American writer. The son of a defense lawyer has also worked as an English teacher and writer for Sports Illustrated and Harper 's Magazine.
Coinciding with his first novel, Snow Falling on Cedars, for which he received the PEN / Faulkner Award and the Swedish Krimipreis, managed Guterson 1994 breakthrough and became known worldwide. The novel was made into a film by Scott Hicks with Ethan Hawke, Sam Shepard, Max von Sydow and Youki Kudoh in the lead roles in 1999.
David Guterson lives with his family on Bainbridge Iceland in Puget Sound west of Seattle.
Guterson is a founding member of the writers' organization Field's End.
