David Henry Patton

David Henry Patton (* November 26, 1837 in Flemingsburg, Fleming County, Kentucky; † January 17, 1914 in Otterbein, Indiana ) was an American politician. Between 1891 and 1893 he represented the State of Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

David Patton attended the Collegiate Institute in Waveland (Indiana). During the Civil War he served in the army of the Union, in which he rose to the colonel. After the war he studied until 1867 at the Chicago Medical College medicine. After qualifying as a doctor he began to work in Remington in this profession. Between 1886 and 1890 he worked for the City of Remington as a clerk in the pension department.

Politically, Patton was a member of the Democratic Party. In 1892 and 1900 he was a delegate to the Democratic National Conventions relevant. In the congressional elections of 1890 he was in the tenth electoral district of Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of William D. Owen on March 4, 1891. Since he resigned in 1892 to run again, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1893.

After his retirement from the U.S. House of Representatives Patton moved to Woodward in the Indian Territory, now part of Oklahoma. There he worked in 1893 for the land registry office. Later he practiced there as a doctor. He was also a member of the local health committee. Meantime he worked in Woodward also as a clerk for pension issues. David Patton died on January 17, 1914 in Otterbein and was buried in Remington.
