David Kimche

David (Dave ) Kimche (* 1928 in London, † March 8, 2010 in Ramat ha - Sharon, near Tel Aviv, Israel) was an Israeli diplomat and deputy head of the Mossad. Early in his career, he also worked as a journalist. After his retirement, he worked internationally as a businessman. Kimche died of a brain tumor.

Life

Kimche was born in 1928 in London's Hampstead ninth child of from Switzerland who emigrated to England parents. He emigrated to Palestine in 1946 and later studied Humanities at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and at the Sorbonne in Paris. In the Israeli War of Independence, he fought as a soldier and was wounded. From 1950 he worked for the Mossad, where he rose to the position of deputy head. In 1980, he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he was Director-General. After retiring in 1986, he was Israeli Special Envoy for Eastern Europe. Kimche was involved in the publication of several books. With his younger brother Jon Kimche he wrote a book on the topic of migration before the founding of Israel.

Kimche died in March 2010 at his home in Ramat ha - Sharon from cancer. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, and four children.
