David Kopp (cyclist)

David Kopp ( born January 5, 1979 in Bonn ) is a retired German racing cyclist.

Career

David Kopp was until 2001 the Telekom team of young and recommended himself as a successful U 23 - drivers among others with a stage win in the Tour of Thuringia for a contract in the Telekom team, but where he initially could not prevail and so the team Lamonta took on a new challenge. After a strong season followed changes to the team Wiesenhof, where he was able to convince as endschneller driver again with classic ambitions and so for the 2006 won a contract with Team Gerolsteiner. In his first year there, he confirmed his performance and won a stage belonging to the UCI ProTour Eneco Tour and participated in the Tour de France, which he did not finished.

2007 belonged to the Kopp -up from their team for the spring classic Milan-San Remo, where he fell so hard but that he remained lying bewußlos and had to be transported by ambulance.

In the 2008 season, Kopp went for Cycle Collstrop. On 11 September 2008, he tested positive for cocaine in a criterion in Belgium. End of November 2009 a one-year ban imposed by the Flemish Cycling Federation, which shall take retroactive effect from 1 January 2009 so that Kopp in 2010 may deny race. In April 2010, the International Cycling Union UCI took the request of the World Anti -Doping Agency ( WADA) to extend the ban until September 11, 2010 .. At the end of the 2010 season Kopp extended his contract with the Continental team Kuota - Indeland (2011 Eddy Merckx - Indeland ).

End of the 2011 season ended David Kopp his career as a professional cyclist.

On 24 June 2013, confessed in front of the Stuttgart District Court to have been doped during his time at Gerolsteiner with EPO, growth hormones, testosterone, and cortisone Synacthen. He also mentioned the names of former Gerolsteiner team doctors.
