David Lama

David Lama (* August 4, 1990 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian sport climber and mountaineer. He was European champion in 2007 and 2006 Bouldering lead climbing and beyond several times Junior World Champion. David Lama is regarded worldwide as an exceptional talent and is more time Austrian champion in both the juniors as well as adults.

Life

David Lama was born on August 4, 1990 in Innsbruck. David Lamas father is from the Mount Everest region in Nepal, his mother from Innsbruck. Since the age of 6 David climbs in the sport climbing group of the Austrian Alpine Club section of Innsbruck. For climbing came David Lama after taking a climbing course with Peter Habeler visited at the age of 5 years, which recognized his talent. His first coach was Reinhold Scherer, who then supervised a small group of 8-10 children climbing. From this period dates his nickname "Fuzzy ".

His first 8a route, " kindergarten " in Slovenia, climbed Lama age of 10. He was at the time the youngest climbers succeeded to a commission in this difficulty. By 2010, Lama took part in competitions. In 2006, he was the first climber who succeeded in his first season in the World Cup both a Boulder World Cup, as well as a lead climbing world cup win.
