David Leavitt

David Leavitt ( born June 23, 1961 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) is an American author and professor at the "University of Florida ".

With the short story family dance Leavitt 1984 became known internationally. His first novel, The Lost Language of Cranes ( 1986) was filmed for American television. In German translation also appeared: All that we lack (novel), Old enough to go to a stranger ( short stories ), Night Music with a stranger (novel) ( under the title The Page Turner filmed ) and instructions for Florence ( literary city guide ).

David Leavitt is considered one of the most important openly gay writers in contemporary literature. He lives in the U.S. and in Italy.
