David Lelei

David Lelei ( born May 10, 1971, † February 17, 2010 between Nakuru and Eldoret ) was a Kenyan middle distance runner.

His biggest international success was winning the silver medal in the 1500 meter race at the Pan-African Games in 1999 in Johannesburg. About the same distance, he finished seventh at the IAAF 1999 World Championships in Seville. At the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Lisbon in 2001, he was fourth in the 800 -meter run.

David Lelei was 1.76 m tall and had a competition weight of 60 kg. On February 17, 2010, he was involved together with Moses Tanui in a traffic accident in which he passed away while Tanui survived but was seriously injured.
